Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. is a hospitality corporation with a global presence. The firm was founded by Conrad Hilton in 1919, when he bought the Mobley Hotel in Cisco, a 40-room establishment that formed the basis of the Hilton brand as it is known today. Later, Conrad would purchase other hotels in Texas as years went by (Bloomberg, 2017).  Six years later in 1925, the Hilton name was first used by the Dallas Hotel. Determined to grow his company, Conrad opened a hotel with air-conditioning, the first of its kind, in Waco, Texas. The company has over the years undertook robust expansion strategies, and has since grown to become one of the global forces to reckon with in the hospitality market (Whitla, Walters and Davies, 2007).  The hospitality firm owns, manages, leases, develops, runs and franchises hotel facilities and resorts across the world. The company has two segments, namely the ownership, as well as management and franchise. On that note, the firm manages and licenses its hotels to industry franchisees (Chen, Wang and Chu, 2011). Hilton operates hotels and resorts under the following brands; Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn Tru by Hilton,  Hampton by Hilton, Homewood Suites, and the Home2 Suites by Hilton, among many others. In 2017, Hilton operates 570 hotels and resorts, distributed across the world in over 100 countries worldwide (US News, 2017; Euromonitor International, 2017).
