The main point of the reading started as a story about the amazing discoveries of science. In her investigative quest, the Skloot went in search of a story about the development of science and another scientific breakthrough. In her research, the story gradually morphed into a multifaceted story moving back and forth between its different but intertwined narrative strands. These include Henrietta’s biography right from her childhood at a time when the blacks and whites could not mix all the way to her early and tragic death. The other strand is of her family, mostly navigated through Henrietta’s daughter Deborah and this spans over more than a few decades. In addition, in the course of Skloot’s research, she forges a relationship with the Lacks family and this too finds its way into the book especially her interactions with Deborah.
