The sampling strategy employed by the researchers was stratified sampling gin which the focus was on banks located within the EU region. The geographical context of the study resulted in the selection of these organizations within the sampling process. Data collection was undertaken by relying on information contained in “The

Bankers Top 1000 World Banks” report. This report includes a financial analysis for financial institutions from all over the world. The sampling process excluded banking institutions that had some missing information in the report, banks from countries with less than 2 banks, and financial institutions listed within the report that are not banks. The analysis is undertaken by first providing a definition of financial fragility for purposes of utilization within the research. The financial analysis of the various institution selected to be included within the research is based on various financial ratios related to the assets of the financial institutions.
