What might have started out as a religious group, has grown to become a cultural group that is bound by a way of life that stems from their religious beliefs. As a group, the historical experiences and beliefs of the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have generated what is referred to as a region of Mormon culture which covers all of Utah and its environs. The culture has distinct traits and from them, I hope to learn how those that have stuck to the Mormon way have guarded against the pull of some unacceptable aspects of the modern American culture (Givins 2007).
