Terrorism is by day becoming more sinister especially with advances in technology and communication. There are some aspects of terrorism that are surprisingly justified and others that are not. This renders defining terrorism a complex issue. The complexity is as a result of several things but the major issue is differentiating between freedom fighting and terrorism.

Different perspectives have been taken in seeking to define terrorism with it being considered a tactic, strategy, crime, holy duty, or even a justified reaction to social oppression by a dominant group (Schwenkenbecher, 2012).
