Over time, indigenous populations have had to adapt to the ever-changing variables in regards to environment and climate. However, the adaptation has come at a cost since the health of these native populations has adversely been affected (Ford, 2012). Indigenous people are conservative and are synonymous with traditional lifestyles that range such as traditional food. Environmental and climate changes are core factors which affect the health of native communities as they lead to increased cases of medical conditions. In this context, Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders occupy warm climatic regions of Australia hence extreme cold could affect them adversely. However, due to the recent glacial action, cold conditions trigger respiratory diseases among the populations. Additionally, these communities rely on hunting and gathering for survival; however, with deforestation activities on the increase, these communities are exposed to lack of food which leads to malnutrition conditions or even death (Vos et al. 2009).
