This theory was suggested by Adolf Augustus to explain why a firm exists. According to the theory, the microeconomic concept explains that many corporations exist with the main purpose of profit maximisation. Also, the theory explains that most of business decisions and actions point towards profit maximisation (Macher and Richman, 2008).
