I do not agree with the plea bargaining process in the criminal system. One famous author Milton Heumann,  wrote “the defense attorney has shifted from a fighter on behalf of his client to ‘confidence man’ whose primary function to ‘manipulate the client’ and stage-manage the case so that help and service at least appear to be rendered,” (Heumann, 111). This sums up the real reasons behind the rampant cases of plea bargains that have contributed to the demise of the adversary systems.
