As the largest sports event in the world, the Olympic Games have gained the attention of millions of people. Olympics marketing presents an opportunity for the sponsors and ambush marketers to package their brand and present them to a wide, global audience.  The present used a qualitative research methodology to gather data, with the aim of investigating the use of Olympics games events to promote brands. The specific research question included the following; to investigate the benefits of Olympics marketing for businesses involved; to explore the extent to which Olympics marketing helps improve the corporate image of the brands; to explore the marketing implications of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games.  A random sample of 50 participants was used. A survey questionnaire was used to gather qualitative data.
