Answer preview

In the United States, up to three lives are saved by one pint of donated blood. If twenty people would donate a pint each, this would translate to twenty lives saved. Blood donation is one initiative that is the brain child of a very kind individual. That individual is one Charles Richard Drew, an African-American doctor born in 1904 and died in 1950. Richard Drew was fondly called the Father of Blood banks as he pioneered the first blood drive and blood banks during the First World War. Since then, this very initiative has gone on to save millions of lives.
