Many writers regard morality as one of the societal significant concerns. This issue has emerged in poems, novels and even short stories.  William Faulkner as an author has managed to explore the conventional notion of right and wrong extensively in his literary works. In Barn Burning, Faulkner helps readers to recognize the difference and consequences of loyalty to family and loyalty to the law. The main character in the short story, Colonel Sartoris Snopes, also referred to as Sarty, a young boy aged around ten years finds himself in a situation where he has to choose between being loyal to the family or being loyal to the law.
